Private Lessons
Individual lessons in voice and a range of musical instruments are open to any Boston College student upon consultation with the Music Department, on both a for-credit or non-credit basis.
Registration for Fall 2025 Instrument & Voice Lessons
The Fall 2025 registration for Private Lessons is now open for enrollment beginning August 4th, 2025 through September 3rd, 2025.听Individual lessons in voice and a range of musical instruments are open to any Boston College student, on both a for-credit or non-credit basis听(consultation with the Music Department is preferred).听Information about Fees & Registration are listed below.
To receive credit for individual lessons in voice or an instrument, students must register for either MUSP1925 (Voice) or MUSP1985 (Instruments) through the Music Department website before add/drop period ends.
- Students are assigned to an approved teacher for an hour-long lesson every week, beginning in the second or third week of classes. One credit is given per semester of lessons, graded on a pass-fail basis.
- A semester of for-credit vocal/instrumental instruction includes ten 60-minute lessons and four additional hours of master classes or performance. At the end of each semester, students must perform prepared scales and a piece before a jury to receive credit.听
- Students may apply three credits of lessons toward the 120 credits needed to graduate. Students who wish to continue lessons after completing three semesters of MUSP1925 / MUSP1985 should register for MUSP1920 / MUSP1980 (one-hour lessons, non-credit).

for ten 60-minute lessons.
To enroll in non-credit lessons, students must register for the appropriate level of either听MUSP 1900/1920 (Voice) or MUSP 1960/1980 (Instrumental).
- Students are assigned to an approved teacher for their choice of 60-minute or 30-minute weekly lessons, beginning the second or third week of classes.听
- Lessons range from beginner (MUSP 1900 and MUSP 1960) to advanced (MUSP 1920 and MUSP 1980).

Mary House
Lessons are normally held on the Newton Campus at Mary House. There are five practice rooms available at Mary House for those taking lessons. Mary House is open Sunday-Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., during the spring and fall Semester.听
Lyons Hall
There are also 10 practice studios in Lyons Hall, Room 401. These practice studios may be booked by music majors and minors, students participating in individual instruction, and chamber music groups for up to one hour each day. 海角社区 faculty, staff, and students not formally involved in music may book a studio for 30 minutes each day, if available.听

Fees
Fees for the lessons are added to the term bill, payable at the beginning of semester. Fees are not refundable after the add/drop deadline.
Registration
Fall 2025 registration for Private Lessons is now open until September 3rd, 2025.

Departmental permission is not needed to submit the registration form.
